Marie Antoinette
Queen of France of the House of Habsburg descent,
Archduchess of Austria, Imperial Princess of France, Royal Princess of Hungary and Bohemia, Crown Princess and Queen of France and Navarra was born on November 2, 1755 in Wien.
Princess of Austria, the last daughter of empress Marie Therese.
She boasted natural intelligence and charm.
Before she reached her 15 years of age, she was married to French King Louis XVI. With this act she ensured alliance of the Habsburgs and the Bourbons.
The nature of her character is inconsistent. She was neither extraordinarily intelligent or zealous in making good, nor did she have any desire to do evil, and was eventually blamed for the bankruptcy of the state finances.
She indulged in expensive garments, lacework and jewelry. She gave expensive balls and lost a fortune in many a card game she participated in. She was a lively and temperamental lady, who lived in the center of the life of entertainment and cared solely for wardrobe, jewels and haircuts. She entertained herself day and night and did not care for her royal duties neither for her husband.
She was adored and worshipped by her friends who wanted to be like her. Women dressed like her and men loved her. What she said was wise, what she did was the law, what she wished for came true. Her proximity is a privilege, to catch her sight is a gift, to see her smile is a satisfaction, and her arrival is a celebration.
That was the life of Marie Antoinette until the Great French Revolution, when she was kidnapped and imprisoned. She became a victim of politics. Until the last moments of her life in imprisonment, she was hopeless and desperate. The proud and gentle queen lost her life under the guillotine on 16.10. 1793, on today's Place de la Concorde. 30 000 soldiers were mobilized for that purpose.
That was the end of the famous Marie Antoinette. All those years she had not been a good queen to her people, she was rather an irresponsible, lively child. She did not realize the importance of her people, nation or reign. Eventually, she became a sacrificial lamb, blamed and responsible for everything that went wrong in France. Once she realized the danger that started lurking around her, she devoted more time to politics and started to control her reckless spending.
